TOUR UPDATES
June
5-8, 2007 ... Grand Junction, CO
Our Lay iT Down Team arrived at Grand Junction
Calvary Chapel on Tuesday afternoon to meet
the students we would be ministering with for
the week. Following a great dinner with them,
we settled in at our host homes with anticipation
of what God would do in the coming week. On
Wednesday through Friday, the team met back
up with the youth at the church for a sweet
time of worship and prayer before heading out
to ride the local skate parks. Every night we
were very blessed by a host home with a hot
tub to recoup in and great fellowship between
the youth and traveling team.
We
had a good time with these teens meeting small
groups of people at four different parks and
inviting them back to the camp at the end of
the week. Here's a special call-out to those
of you who rode with us on Thursday night and
for how you represented in big way during the
competition on Friday! At the end of comp, Ben
gave his testimony of what God has done inside
of him and Aaron explained what Jesus laid down
for all of us. Throughout the whole week, many
seeds were planted with local riders, parents,
and friends. The team is encouraged to see how
the youth of this church can continue to further
the relationships made with the once anti-social
teens who got to experience the love of Christ.
When
we were in Grand Junction I got to know a cool
kid who had a few social difficulties. Immediately
after we started talking, I knew God wanted
me to help him out. During the week we would
talk about everything from girls to God. He
is the type of guy who will do anything anyone
tells him to do. I remember talking to him about
trusting the Word of God and the Spirit over
peer pressure. He is a smart kid with a big
heart. I think that God will use him for something
big someday. At the end of the week, he even
asked me to sign his hat like I was some sort
of celebrity! But I had to remind him it wasn't
the Lay it Down Team that was great, but God
who was working through us for his own great
glory.
