Boulder '08 Highlights [6/14]

As we rolled into Boulder on Saturday there was already a great amount of excitement surrounding this first outreach of the summer. This was the second year in which we have partnered with the Cornerstone Church in Boulder, but this year God brought together some really interesting events to allow many un-churched kids to come to the camp. With God's intervention Cornerstone was able to work out a partnership with a local secular family center, by which over 20 kids under scholarship were able to participate in the camp.

The kids from the family center had a great time playing sports with the team and it was a great opportunity to share real life stories from the coaches and get to know the kids better. Between the coaches corner and spiritual talks, 5 kids accepted Christ from this group. We continue to see God's hand touching so many lives in so many different ways through this ministry.

Another great display of Gods handiwork happened during a small group talk after a presentation of the Gospel during the JV clinic. One of the girls in this group had been injured earlier in the day and the girl's mother was called in. The injury turned out not to be major, so the girl along with her mother ended up remaining at the camp. Soon after the mother arrived, the Gospel was presented with the Ball of Many Colors (Evangi-Ball) and afterward the kids were placed into small groups with coaches to talk over the message. As the SportReach coach started to ask the kids questions, she noticed that the mother was listening intently to the conversation. The coach felt prompted to share the whole message again while the mother was listening. Amazingly, all 4 of the kids in the group along with the on-looking mother accepted Christ that morning! This is another way God is showing that He is drawing people in miraculous ways to Himself.

It was great to partner with Cornerstone again this year, where it is always tough to leave such great hospitality and faithful members of the body of Christ.
